Tate and Popplewell
A Manchester partnership established in the mid 1870's which lasted until Alfred Tate’s retirement about 1892. After this, Frank Popplewell continued to practice alone until about 1897. Both architects worked in the office of Alfred Waterhouse prior to their partnership. Tate and Popplewell appear not to have participated in the activities of the Manchester Society of Architects and as a result are less well documented.
