ST. PHILIP's PARSONAGE, ANCOATS, MANCHESTER. THIs building is situated in one of the most densely populated parts of Manchester, in the midst of manufacturing establishments, and it is consequently built of very plain materials, common bricks with moulded stock dressings being used, and roofed with Bangor slates. The internal woodwork is entirely of white deal, the better doors having pitch pine panels. The total cost, as per an estimate obtained in the spring, was £1,860, but a delay of six months caused an advance of 10 per cent. on the original cost, bringing it up to £1,950. The present contract is being carried out by Mr. William Southern, of Salford. The architects are Messrs. Tate and Popplewell, of Manchester. [Building News 15 December 1876 page 594]
