These effectively designed villas are to be built throughout with close firebrick, with red stock quoins, angles etc., and 11 inch cavity walls for the outside throughout. Stone will only be used for the cills, steps, etc. Ruabon tiles and Vellenheli slates will be used for the roofs and dormers. The interior fittings will comprise neat wood mantels with tile margins, and Lincrusta-Walion will be applied to the living room and hall dados. The stairs are to be of pitch pine and the outer porch is to be tiled in plain patterns. Lead lights in pale tints will be introduced in door panels to entrances etc. The object of the architect has been to produce, by effective grouping and colour of the various parts, a simple and consistent design. Hence the almost entire absence of ornamental features. The plans we give amply illustrate the general arrangement. The rental will be from £30 to £40 per annum. The architect is Mr W K Booth of 30, Exchange Buildings, St Mary’s Gate, Manchester. [British Architect 2 January 1885 Page 7].
