On 27 April 1895 the foundation stone of a new Unitarian Church in Glossop was laid by Lady Roscoe, Captain E. Partington, George H. Leigh and Herbert Partington. Designed by Joseph Lindley the younger, of Hyde, the new building replaced an earlier Unitarian Church established in 1874 on the same site at the junction of Fitzalan Street and Talbot Street. Built of coursed gritstone by S. Robinson and Son of Hyde at a cost of some £3,500, it contained almost 400 sittings. Closed (date unknown) and converted to residential use.
