HULME - The St. Philip's British Workman Building is situated near the church, on a site formerly occupied by cottages, which have been revised and enlarged, and now afford complete facilities for a club, with care-taker's house attached. The ground floor comprises rooms for billiards, reading, and games, and, in close proximity, a serving room, which is fitted with a hoist. The first floor is one large room, 60 feet by 22 feet, for public meetings (with a committee room); a separate entrance to this room is provided. The building is heated by hot water. The cost of the building (exclusive of the site and fittings) is 1,300l. and has been erected by Mr. Hodkinson, builder, under the superintendence of Mr. John Lowe, F.R.I.B.A., Manchester.
