One Dwelling House; 9 Victoria Grove, Fallowfield
In the 1890s E C Ball submitted a Building Regulations Application for “One Dwelling House; Lorne Grove, Rusholme,” on behalf of Louis Janssens. As a result of subsequent changes this house is not immediately identifiable. However, street directories and probate records show that between 1903 and 1909 Louis Janssens was living at 13 Victoria Grove, Fallowfield. The houses in Victoria Grove have since been re-numbered from 5-13 to 1-9. No 9 is a detached house of the period and would appear to be the one referred to in the Building Regulations Application. Victoria Grove is a cul-de sac terminating with a brick wall on the other side of which was Lorne Grove (now Lombard Grove).
