Northenden Wesleyan Chapel
NORTHENDEN WESLEYAN CHAPEL - On Saturday afternoon the memorial stones of a new Wesleyan chapel were laid at Northenden by Mrs John W Williamson of Harpurhey and Mr R D Waller of Didsbury in the presence of a large assemblage of spectators. The new building is being erected immediately behind the present chapel, which it is intended to supersede, and when completed will be uses both as a place of worship and a school. It is being built of brick with stone dressings, and will seat about 350 persons. The total estimated cost is £1,800 towards which £1,500 has been raised prior to the laying of the memorial stones. The architect is Mr H F Slater of 3 Clarence Street Manchester and Messrs Foreman and Todd Strangeways are the contractors. [Manchester Guardian 10 July 1876 page 7]
