New Jerusalem Chapel Ashton-under-Lyne
NEW JERUSALEM CHAPEL - This neat structure, erected by the exertions of a few men moving in a comparatively humble sphere of life, now near completion, only wanting a few interior decorations. It is situate in Katherine-street and Margaret-Street. The design was furnished by Mr. John Artingstall, architect, of Ashton. It is in the Grecian style of architecture, and does that gentleman much credit. We learn that the building committee are highly satisfied with the manner in which the work been carried out. Mr. Baxter, joiner, contracted for the woodwork, and Mr. Torkington for the brickwork. The lower part of the chapel will be used as school. [Manchester Courier 21 January 1860 page 8]
