A site on the corner of Egerton Road and Clarendon Road, one of the last pieces of land from the Manley Hall estate, was purchased in 1900 for £600. However, it was not until 1908 that work on a permanent building commenced with the appointment of Everard W Leeson as architect. E W Leeson had designed a Methodist Church at Glazebrook the year before and a modified version of this plan was adopted at Manley Park.
