Although the Society’s archives refer to this building as a ‘home’, the architects’ plans show it to be an extension added onto the billiard room of Milne’s original Belmont House, and designed as an assembly hall with a stage at one end. It was demolished when Belmont House was sold in 1983. James Fildes was a former chairman of the Society. [Richard Fletcher]
