The Imperial Picture Theatre opened in 1914 with seating for 750 patrons in the stalls only. It had a stage, five feet deep, and two dressing rooms. There was also a cafe. Around 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric (WE) sound system. The Imperial Picture Theatre closed on 15th January 1976 the building being converted into a timber merchants.
