John Homan, Jeweller, Optician, Silver and Goldsmith had his main premises in Station Road. To cater for holidaymakers this had become an “Emporium for all kinds of fancy goods” including artistic jewellery, leather goods, luggage, toys and postcards, which he also published. In 1900 a branch shop at the junction of Conway Road and Llewelyn Road.

It is a sign of the times that prominent tradesmen are going in for extensions and development on every hand. We now learn that Mr J. Homan, the well-known Station Road jeweller, has purchased Mr J. Heaton's confectionery shop at the corner of Llewelyn Road, and is going to have the premises re- modelled on a very extensive scale. The work of drawing up the scheme has been entrusted to Messrs Booth, Chadwick & Porter, and we understand that when completed the re-modelled shop will rank with the finest business premises in the town.
