Alterations and additions

Situated on Hall Lane, Hankelow, near Audlem. The additions, of which the nature and extent are not known, were carried out for William Lawrence Chew, JP, a Manchester solicitor, who changed the name from Hankelow Villa.

The Building News of 6 March 1885 reported that Hankelow Villa was built in that year by the architectural partnership of Tate and Popplewell. However, that must have been a rebuild as there is press mention of Hankeleow Villa as early as 1843.
