Thomas Haselden

Born in 1847, Thomas Haselden was the eldest son of James Haselden, cotton spinner and his wife Mary Haselden of Blackburn Road, Bolton.
The death is also announced of Mr. Thomas Haselden, a well-known Bolton architect, which took place on Friday last at his residence, Heath Cottage, Sharples, near Bolton. The deceased gentleman was at business on Wednesday, the 11th instant; but he had since suffered from a severe attack of rheumatism. In his profession he had an extensive clientèle, having prepared the plans for numerous public and private buildings in the town and neighbourhood, including the Gaskell-street Board School, the Thomasson Gymnasium, Independent Methodist chapels, Noble-street, and at Roe Green and Lowton; the Primitive Methodist chapel at Worsley-road, Little Hulton; the Moor-lane Primitive Methodist chapel and schools; many cotton mills, including the Cobden Mill, Farnworth, the Eagley Doubling Mills, Nos. 1 and 2; numerous stores, etc., in connection with the Bolton Co-operative Society, and many gentlemen's residences in and near Bolton. The deceased, who was only 42 years of age, leaves a widow and seven children. [ Building News 27 January 1888 page 169]
Mr. Thomas Haselden - The death is announced of Mr. Thomas Haselden, architect, Bolton, which took place on the 20th, inst. at his residence, Sharples, after a few days' ill ness. He enjoyed a good local practice, and was only forty-two years of age. [Builder 28 January 1888 page 69]
1878-83: James Diggle Mould (qv) was head assistant to Thomas Haselden and was jointly credited with the design for the Primitive Methodist Chapel, Worsley Road, Little Hulton, following Haselden’s death.
