BANANA SKIN DANGERS. BURY ARCHITECT’S FATAL SLIP AT BLACKPOOL. It transpired at the inquest on the body Mr. James Sellers, architect of Bury and Radcfiffe, who died suddenly on Saturday night, that while staying at Blackpool on 24 August he slipped on a banana skin at the comer the Central Station. He complained of pain in the head, and had a bruise on the temple, but a Blackpool doctor on being consulted expressed the opinion that the pain would soon pass away. After the fall Mr Sellers remained at Blackpool ten days. He returned home on Saturday and died soon after getting into the house. Dr Farquharson attributed death to cerebral haemorrhage, accelerated by the fall at Blackpool. The jury agreed that the attention of the Blackpool Corporation should be called to the dangerous habit, and they be requested to post notices with a view to the nuisance being obviated. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned. [Manchester Courier 7 September 1904 page 3]
