Bolton mill architect for 17 years with George Woodhouse before setting up independent practice in Bolton. He was later in partnership with his son Thomas who continued the practice after his father’s death in 1927. In 1907 it was stated that he had done work for the very best people connected with the erection of mills such as Tootal Broadhurst Lee Co Ltd. He had also done work in the United States, Japan and Brazil and in that year was engaged on four large mills in Bolton.
