Although principally architects and surveyors, Starkey and Cuffley also operated as paper hangers and glass merchants in Manchester and Liverpool during the 1840s.

LONDON THAMES PLATE GLASS DEPOT REMOVED to No. 26 CROSS-STREET. – Messrs Starkey and Cuffley, Architects and Surveyors beg to state that Several THOUSAND FEET of GLAZING PLATE GLASS will always be kept on their Premises, together with upwards of 1,000 Silvered Plates, of running sizes, from 9 by 7 to 96 by 63; and parties can be supplied on precisely the same terms as at the Company's Works, London, and as low as at any other manufactory. The Thames Plate Glass stands unrivalled in its peculiar brilliance of colour, and, being entirely unaffected by the atmosphere, is allowed to be the best and most suitable glass for shop fronts; and Silvered Plate manufactured.
