Ye Shakespear Show in Ye Albert Hall
We give this week an interior view of the Albert Hall in which is arranged with admirable effect the Shakespearean Show opened yesterday afternoon. In the centre is "the casket," as it is called, containing the scenic illustrations of the plays of Shakespeare, the stalls or scenes being each 16 feet in length. The casket has been designed by Mr Alfred Darbyshire FRIBA, of Manchester, under whose able direction the whole of the artistic arrangements have been carried out. The background is occupied with a picturesque grouping of Stratford Church, Shakespeare’s house and Ann Hattaway’s cottage. We should imagine the promoters of the show should come very near realising their desire to raise the required £5000 in aid of paying off the mortgage on the Chelsea Hospital for Women.
