The chapel is to cost £4,500 and provide seating accommodation for 700 worshippers. Land has been secured at the rear for a lecture hall and classrooms. The chapel is of pretty design. The principal entrances are surmounted by a large arched traceried window and canopied gable terminal. The centre bay is flanked by octagonal buttresses carried up and pinnacle. The organ chamber and choir gallery are placed behind the rostrum. There is a gallery round, and a deacons’ vestry, minister’s vestry and meeting room are provided. Externally the building is faced with Accrington bricks, the mouldings and dressings being in Accrington terra-cotta. The whole of the interior is plastered, the ceilings being carved, panelled and moulded, trussed and arcaded with strings, imposts and architraves… Messrs Smith and Matley (Manchester) were the architects. Memorial stones laid Saturday 11 June 1904. This building replaced the chapel opened by John Wesley in Moorside Road, Davyhulme in 1779.
