Wesleyan Central Hall, Blackburn
A site in the centre of Blackburn is to be cleared for these buildings, for which Messrs. Bradshaw, Gass. and Hope, of Bolton, were appointed architects after a limited competition, in which Sir Alfred Gelder was the assessor. The whole of the lower floor is to be used for Sunday school and institutional purposes, with a large hall mi the first floor to seat 1,600 persons. Many vestries are also arranged and available for general use. The buildings are to be fireproof throughout, and externally red brick and stone will be used. It is proposed to commence erection of the buildings at an early date, and the working drawings are now in progress. We give the two chief floor plans, also an exterior view, as well as a sketch of the great auditorium. [Building News 7 August 1914 Page 177]
