Talk of a new mill in Walkden had begun in 1895 although it was not until 23 November 1905 that the Walkden Spinning and Manufacturing Company Limited was registered with a capital of £80,000 to erect a new mill for the spinning of United States and Egyptian cotton.  On 12 December 1905, Lord Brackley, the eldest son of the Earl of Ellesmere cut the first sod for the new mill and by 12 April 1906, work had begun on the foundations. The building work was completed by the 3 May 1907 although it took until November to complete the installation of machinery and begin production. This original mill was of five storeys, a ground floor carding room and four upper floors for spinning with a cotton conditioning store at basement level. The tower was 130 feet high and the chimney 186 feet high. External walls were of local brick with Ruabon terra-cotta dressings. About 1915 another floor with mansard roof was added and the preparation department extended towards Allan Street.

Spinning mill with 85,824 spindles for 60s/80s twist, 80s/100s weft Egyptian. Closed in 1959 and demolished 1966
