Victoria Square Oldham Road

The Manchester artisans' dwellings competition, promoted by the Manchester Corporation, was settled last week. There were two competitions really—one for buildings to be erected on a site in Oldham Road, and another for dwellings to be placed on an area in Pollard Street. In the Oldham Road competition, the first premium, of £100, went to Messrs. Spalding & Cross, Queen Street, Cheapside, London; the second premium, of £50, to Mr. W. R. Sharp, 13, Exchange Arcade, Manchester; and the third, of £25, to Messrs. Gibson & Russell, Old Bond Street, London. In the Pollard Street competition Messrs. Spalding & Cross won the £30 premium, and Mr. T. L. Worthington, of Queen Anne's Gate, London, the £20 premium
