Originally opened as the Swan Cinema in 1910 and re-opened as the Savoy in 1932, it was bought by Sam Seeman in 1934. After internal modernisation a new façade. (Architect Norman Evans). it reopened as Unique Cinema on 3 September 1934. It closed on Saturday 22 September 1973 and was the last cinema in Croydon area to hold a nitrate film licence
