"The Nook," Stamford Road and Chesham Place, Bowdon
AN ARCHITECT'S HOUSE IN CHESHIRE - This house has recently been erected at Bowdon, in Cheshire, for the occupation of Mr. Henry Goldsmith, of the firm of Goldsmith, Son, & Welford, architects, Manchester. The site, which is at the corner of Stamford Road and Chesham Place, Bowdon, is well planted, stands about 8 feet above the street level, and commands an extensive view. The outside walling is of grey bricks, with bright red stock dressings, the upper portion being half timbering, filled in with white spar panels. The roof is covered with Broomhall tiles, of the use of which it is a favourable specimen. The rooms are fitted up with chimney- pieces and over-mantels in walnut, with slow-combustion grates. The hall floor is laid with marble mosaic, and the walls are finished in distemper. Messrs. Emery & Sons are the contractors, Mr. Roberts bricklayer, Mr. Ellis, mason, Mr. Bailey plumber, and Mr. Kenworthy plasterer.
