Attached to the London Hotel, Bridge-street, a spacious music-hall has just been erected, which is intended to be conducted on the same plan—both as to performances and accommodation for the public—as the Oxford Concert Hall, in Oxford-street, London. The new building is 170 feet long, inclusive of the stage; 90 feet wide; and 64 feet in height. There are two side galleries, with a balcony at the end opposite the stage. This is that which adjoins the hotel; and three tiers of boxes, having their entrance from the hotel, are here erected, which are intended for families and private parties wishing for reserved accommodation to witness the performances. The hall will be illuminated by a number of sunlights suspended from the roof; and the building will be fancifully decorated in the Chinese style. It possesses a proscenium and stage, the opening being 38 feet wide, and 47 feet in depth. The scenery and decorations are by Mr Morley. Mr W. Mangnall is the architect, and his designs have been carried out by Mr. Neill, of Strangeways, builder. The hall was to be opened on Christmas Eve. [Builder 3 January 1863 page 15]
