Ledingham’s name occurs frequently with regard to Heaton. He appears to have acted as a property developer, occupying the house he designed and built then selling it on to a third party and moving on until he finally settled at The Cottage, later renamed Homecroft on Parsons Road, which he built in 1894/5.
