In 1904, Phipps rebuilt the 1819 Tenants Hall at Alderley Park for Edward Lyulph, the 4th Baron Stanley of Alderley. During the First World War it was used as a soldiers’ hospital, and after the purchase of the park by ICI in 1950 and AstraZeneca in 1993, it served various company functions. It is currently being refurbished as a public restaurant. [Richard Fletcher]
