St Paul’ s Rectory and Parish Room (former),. Vine Street, Kersal, Salford M7
In 1927, a proposal to sell the original Rectory building (architect Andrew Trimen) and to build a more modest and manageable house in its grounds was made. By July of that year negotiations with the Church of England Waifs and Strays Society were well advanced and Isaac Taylor was writing concerning the extent of land to be allocated to the new Rectory. Tenders were received and accepted by March 1928 and on 27 May 1929 the Bishop of Manchester carried out a Benediction of the new Rectory. The new rectory occupied a site bounded by Vine Street, North Blackfield Lane and Nevile Road.
Reverend R W Petch, rector of St Paul’ s Church, Kersal, is proposing to erect a Rectory at the junction of Vine Street and Neville-road(sic) Broughton. Plans by Taylor and Young F/ARIBA, architects, Chapel-walks Manchester. [Builder 10 February 1928 Page 278]
