On Saturday afternoon Mr Oliver Heywood laid the memorial stone of St Mary’s Mission Room, Cadishead, which is intended as a chapel-of-ease to Irlam Parish Church. The plan of the building consists of a large room (which will be used both as a church and for Sunday and day schools), a chancel, vestry and classrooms. The main room will accommodate about 300 persons, and the cost exclusive of fittings, will be about ,650. Mr John Lowe, of this city, is the architect. [Manchester Guardian 14 September 1891 page 8]

Note :  Mission room included in Victoria History 1911. A new church was built in 1929 as referenced in Pevsner. 1908 map shows Mission Room behind George (PH) on Liverpool Road/John Street. Possibly still existent as part of works.
