                    St Margaret’s Institute in Market Street in connection with St Margaret’s Church, Dunham Massey was erected in 1896 at a cost of £2,500 from designs by Mr Goldsmith, architect, and contains a large room for concerts and dramatic performances, seating about 350 people. There are also reading and billiard rooms and a good gymnasium. Weaving and wood carving classes are held here. The institute is open to persons of both sexes and there were in 1901 over 600 members.
