St Jerome Beswick (The Houghton Memorial Church)
Consecrated 17 December 1913. Declared redundant 8 February 1994. Demolished (after 2015)
The Bishop of Manchester yesterday consecrated the new Houghton Memorial Church, Baden Street, Ashton Old Road, built, as a mural inscription in the west porch testifies, “To the glory of God and in memory of a loving mother, by her daughter." The church is dedicated in the name of St Jerome, and a parish has been assigned to it, carved out of the parish of St. Silas, Ashton Old Road. … The building is of brick, and the cost has been defrayed out of a sum of £7,000 given anonymously for providing the church and the adjoining hall. There is seating accommodation for 600 people. [Manchester Guardian 18 December 1913 page 8]
