Sidway House Hilton Park Prestwich
Hilton Park is an area to the west of Bury New Road, between George Street and Hilton Lane, Prestwich which was laid out with a number of large detached villas from the 1860s. Most of these were demolished in the early part of the 20th ury and replaced with smaller terraced or semi-detached villas. The following advertisement appeared at regular intervals during the late 1860s, an instance of an architect acting as estate agent. It is probable that Bates was the architect and developer for the whole estate.
HILTON PARK - BURY NEW ROAD. TO BE SOLD or LET, SIDWAY HOUSE, late in the occupation of James Clegg Esq. containing three entertaining rooms, kitchen, etc., five bedrooms, dressing and bathroom, water closet, three attics etc., also coach house, stabling garden and lawn. For further particulars apply Ernest Bates, architect, 26 Cooper Street.
