SCOTTISH PROVIDENT BUILDINGS, MANCHESTER - These buildings are in the course of erection at the corner of Albert Square and Brazennose-street, Manchester. The frontages are all of stone and the building is divided into three floors and basement, with rooms for the caretaker at the top. Offices for the Scottish Provident Institution are provided at the corner of Brazennose-street, with a private entrance. The remainder of the ground floor is divided into four shops, the full depth of the building, and a main entrance and staircase to the upper floors, which are all divided into offices, approached from a large central corridor lighted from the roof. The architects are Messrs Goldsmith, son & Welford of 63 Faulkner-street, Manchester, and the contractors are Messrs R Neill & Sons of the same city. [British Architect 16 February 1883 Page ]
