Salem Methodist Chapel Bury New Road Strangeways
OPENING OF A METHODIST NEW CONNEXION CHAPEL, STRANGEWAYS - A Chapel for the Methodist New Connexion has just been completed in Bury New Road, Strangeways. The building is called Salem Chapel and has been built by Mr Neild (sic) of Strangeways from designs by Messrs Pennington & Jervis, architects, Cross-street, Manchester. The building, both externally and internally is very chaste, attention having been paid to good light, ventilation and heating. It will accommodate 700 persons; and underneath is a school room, fitted up in the most improved style, for the accommodation of 500 children and intended to be used both as a Sunday and day school. The services in connection with the opening commenced on Sunday and were continued on Monday and Wednesday evenings. [Manchester Guardian 3 May 1851 Page 6]
