Built at a cost of £30,000, the Rivoli cinema was opened 7 October 1929 by Eagle Picturedromes (Wigan) Ltd. It contained 1,350 seats (stalls: 1,000; Balcony: 350) and had a Christie organ. Closed c1965, then bingo (EMI, then Coral). Demolished. A NHS Walk-In Centre has been built on the site.
