Pull Wyke, Pullwood Bay, stands on the shore of Lake Windermere in the inlet from which the house takes its name. The estate of some 300 actres includes fifty acres of woodland with terraced lawns leading down to half a mile of shoreline and a private jetty. The house was built in 1891 as the holiday home of industrialist Sir William Crossley of Manchester and is said to be inspired by the Elizabethan style of Bramhall Hall in Cheshire. Its remarkable frontage features timbers and gables interspersed with intricate inset terracotta tiling. Later a school, Conversion to time-share apartments 2003-2007.

The house is in the domestic Gothic style of architecture. The lower part of the residence is built of the native dark blue stone, with white dressings, the upper portion being constructed of red mosaic. The gables are of an exceedingly artistic character, the woodwork being beautifully carved. Inside the house are many features of beauty, which enhance the appearance of quiet comfort that the place possesses. Standing as it does in some three hundred acres of well-wooded park-like land, Mr. Crossley's new residence is almost an ideal place.[Manchester Times September 1891 page 8]
