FACTORY TO BE ERECTED FOR THE SPINNING OF COTTON WASTE - As was announced in the “Examiner” a few weeks ago, Wigan is about to have a new industry opened out in its midst. The good news, which will be welcomed by all, and particularly by the Wigan Industries Committer, is confirmed by the announcement that the company, entitled the Northern Coarse Spinners, Limited, has been formed. with its registered office at 51, King Street, Wigan. The new project takes the form of a large mill for the purpose of spinning cotton waste. This was a trade which, hitherto, was largely controlled by Germany, and therefore it should be all the more welcomed and supported. Mr. A. E. Baucher is the solicitor to the Company, Mr H Ivers, of Atherton, the secretary, Messrs. Williams, Deacon Ltd., the bankers, and the architects are Messrs, Unwin and Holland, of Library Street, Wigan. A plot of land has been secured in the centre of the town, and plans have already been prepared for the erection of a new mill, which will be a one storey building and when completed, will be of the most up-to-date character. The mill will be run entirely by electricity, which, of course, will be another benefit to the town. The machinery is being supplied by Messrs Dobson and Barlow, Ltd of Bolton [Wigan Examiner Tuesday 31 August 1915 page 2]
