Proposed Church Bluepits near Rochdale
PROPOSED NEW CHURCH, BLUEPITS —For the last five years there has existed at Bluepits, a Church School, in which, Sundays, divine service has, for the last three years, been held. … The prospect held out by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, of bringing all their machine works to Bluepits, promises to vastly augment the population there. A committee has therefore now been formed, for the erection a church on an eminence behind the school. … The church, of which an elevation drawing has been made by Mr. Isaac Holden, of Manchester, is to be in the florid or perpendicular style. There is every reason to believe the committee will be able to commence the erection in good earnest next spring. The total cost is estimated at £3,000. [Rochdale Observer 23 October 1858 page 3]
