Primitive Methodist School, Bridge Street, Heywood
HEYWOOD - The present school has become far too small, and Messrs. J. D. and S. Mould, architects, of Bury and London (sons of a former minister), have prepared plans for the new building. The cost is about £2,000. [Primitive Methodist Leader 2 September 1909 page 602]
PRIMITIVE METHODIST SCHOOLS - After being in use since 1871, the school buildings in connection with the Bridge Street Primitive Methodist Church are to be demolished and a new and more commanding building is to be erected to accommodate the increased number of scholars. The tender of Mr F Porter of Bury has been accepted for the work which is to be carried out according to the designs of Messrs J D and S J Mould, architects, of Bury, and it is proposed to go on with the work at once. On Saturday a farewell tea party and social evening was held in the old school and about 200 scholars and friends were present. [Bury Times - Saturday 2 October 1909 page 7]
At Bridge Street the old school was demolished in 1909, the accommodation being quite insufficient, and a fine new School erected the following year at a cost of £2,800. It is a most commodious and up-to-date building, with seventeen class-rooms and highly approved by all Sunday-school experts who have visited it.
