A new Presbyterian church and schools for Sale and neighbourhood, to be erected from designs prepared by Messrs Willami Wilson and Oldham, architects, Manchester, has just been commenced at the junction of Woodlands and Northenden Roads. The church is arranged to accommodate 600 people. There will also be a school or lecture-room, 30 feet by 45 feet; class-rooms, library, vestry, session-room, etc. The external walls and spire (about 120 feet high) will be faced with Yorkshire stone, with Runcorn stone dressings. The contracts are: Bricklayer and mason work, Messrs Winstanley and Watson; carpenter and joiner work, Mr. Tomlinson; slater work, Messrs. Kirkley and Son; plumber and glazier work, Mr. Andrew Rodgers; plaster and painter work, Messrs. Wharton & Barns. The cost will be about £5,000. [The Architect 8 February 1873 page 79]

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, SALE—The memorial-stone of this new church, which is situated at the junction of Northenden and Woodlands Roads, was laid last week. The entrance to the church will be in Northenden Road, not far from the railway station. The building will be in the Early Decorated style, of parpoint stone with Runcorn stone dressing. The church is to be approached by a vestibule, and is 60 feet in length by 40 feet in width, to seat about 600 people. A gallery over the main entrance, will be approached by a flight of stairs in a. tower at the south end of the vestibule. North of the vestibule an occasional room is formed, and at the back of the church there will be a session-mom, a Vestry, a school-room, 45 feet by 30 feet, and a class-room. The cost of the works finished, with all necessary furnishing, is estimated at. about 6,0001. Messrs. William Wilson & Oldham, of Manchester, are the architects. Messrs. Winstanley and Watson, of Sale, the contractors for the masonry, and Mr J Tomlinson contractor for the joinery. [The Architect 17 May 1873 page 269]

SALE - A new Presbyterian Church was opened at Sale on Saturday week. The style is Early Decorated Gothic. The area of the church itself is 60ft. in length by 40ft. in breadth, with a gallery over the western entrance in addition to a choir gallery. There will be accommodation for 600 people. There is also a large schoolroom 45ft. by 30ft., with session room, vestry, and other rooms. The total cost will be not less than £6,000. The architects are Messrs. Wilson and Oldham, of Manchester.
