A contract for a mission church in connection with St James’s Church has been formed and the building commenced. The outlay will be about £500. Mr G Macfarlane of Manchester is the contractor for the work, and the drawings have been prepared by Mr John Lowe of Manchester who was also the architect for the parish church. MISSION CHURCH, MOSS SIDE, MANCHESTER - A contract for a mission church, in connexion with St. James’s Church, has been accepted by the committee, and the work commenced. The outlay will be about £500. Mr. Geo. Macfarlane is the contractor for the works, and the drawings have been prepared by Mr. John Lowe, architect, of Manchester, under whose superintendence the parish church was recently erected. The new building which is of brick has been designed in the form of a small church and consists of a room 40 feet long by 31 feet broad which has been comfortably seated and will give accommodation to 250 people. There is a small chancel at the east end, a vestry has been provided on one side and a classroom on the other. The roof is open-timbered and a low clerestory affords light. The front is faced with red brick with white bands in relief. The cost of the building has been about £600. It was designed by Mr John Lowe, architect of this city. At the east end is a small chancel, 18 feet by 9 feet 6in., with a vestry in one side, and a store-room on the other. The work has been executed by Mr. G. It is somewhat in the form of a church and comprises a mission-room, 40 feet by 31 feet 6 in. affording accommodation for 250 persons. At the east end is a small chancel, 18 feet by 9 feet 6 in. with a vestry on one side and a store-room on the other. The mission-room has an open-framed roof and is partly lighted by a low clearstory. The front of the building is faced with white bricks, reliever with red bands, and timber-work in the gable wit! belfry. The work has been executed by Mr G Macfarlane, of Manchester, under the superintendence of the architect, Mr. John Lowe, of Manchester, at a cost, including fittings, of £600.
