Methodist Now Connexion chapel and schools, Edensor Road, Longton
LONGTON - Memorial-stones of a new Methodist Now Connexion chapel and schools now in course of erection in Edensor-road, Longton, Staffs, were laid last week. Mr. J. W. Firth, of Oldham, is the architect, and Mr. P. H. Bennion, of Longton, is the contractor for the work, the amount of the contractbeing about £900, exclusive of heating apparatus. The style is a free treatment of Gothic, and it willbe executed in brick, with blue brick and stone tracings. The inside joinery will be of selected reddeal. The chapel is 45ft. long and 33ft. 4in. wide inside and the schoolroom 40ft. by 22ft. Therewill also be two classrooms and a minister's vestry. There will be accommodation for 300 worshippersin the chapel and about 200 children in the schools. [Building News 19 April 1889 page 566]
