MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY WAR MEMORIAL – The memorial to the members of the University of Manchester who fell in the war 1914-1919 was unveiled on Saturday by the Chancellor, Lord Crawford and Balcarres. The memorial takes the form of a bronze tablet on the west wall of the quadrangle, bearing on either side of a central inscribed panel the 510 names of those who fell. The tablet, which was designed by Professor A C Dickie and executed by Messrs Earp Hobbs and Miller, is notable for its chaste decoration and very legible, though ornamental lettering.
