Manchester Royal Lunatic Hospital St Ann’s Road Stockport Etchells
The Royal Manchester Lunatic Asylum, a building of considerable extent at Stockport Etchells, 7 miles from the city, is now being fitted up and furnished. It has a façade of 350 feet in extent, with a central projecting building. The style is Elizabethan; the materials employed stock bricks with stone dressings. Mr Lane is the architect, and the contract was taken by Mr Hollins for £10,000. [Builder 9 December 1848 page 589]
TO BUILDERS AND OTHERS - Persons desirous of CONTRACTING for the whole or any portion of the works required in the Erection of the Manchester Royal Lunatic Hospital at Stockport Etchels, may see the Plans and Specifications of the same at the office of Mr RICHD LANE, architect, Chapel Walks, Manchester. Tenders, sealed and endorsed, and addressed to the treasurer, to be delivered on or before Thursday, 24 June next. The committee do not pledge themselves to accept the lowest tender.
