MACCLESFIELD CEMETERY CHAPELS COMPETITION - In answer to the advertisements published in May, inviting architects to compete for the above, 22 sets of drawings and models were sent in. The first premium has been awarded to Mr James Stevens. architect of this city; the second to Pritchett and Son. of Darlington; the third to Messrs Wilson and Thompson, of Derby The designs chosen are of the decorated period of Gothic architecture.  [Manchester Guardian 11 July 1863 page 4]
