PEEL (ISLE OF MAN) - On his recent visit to the Isle of Man, his Grace the Archbishop of York laid the foundation stone of the Isle of Man Navigation, Grammar, and Mathematical School, which is being erected on a site close to the new church at Peel, of which we gave some particulars on page. 374, Messrs. T. D. Barry & Sons, of Liverpool, are the architects of the building [Builder 20 September 1884 page 408].

In 1886 the Isle of Man Times reported that no progress had been made in the building of the school since the laying of the foundation stone in 1884. A decade later disputes regarding finance were still ongoing and it would appear the school was never built. The intended site was 40 yards north of the church.
