BARNET UNION. ERECTION OF INFIRMARY - Notice is hereby given that the Guardians of the Poor of the Barnet Union are prepared to receive Tenders from persons desirous of Contracting with them for the ERECTION of an INFIRMARY at the WORKHOUSE, HIGH BARNET, Herts. The drawings and Specifications of the Works may be inspected at the office of the Architect, Mr John Ladds, 4 Chapel Street, Bedford Row, London. Quantities for the Works have been taken out by Mr Thomas Ladds, Tunbridge Wells, and copies of the Quantities will be supplied by the architect, or can be obtained at the office of the Clerk to the Guardians, High Street, Barnet, on personal application on depositing the sum of £5. Barnet Workhouse stood at the end of West End Lane (gatepost remain?) and backed on to Wellhouse Lane. The Infirmary of 1886 stood to the east of the original workhouse buildings. All now demolished, land vacant / car parking for Barnet General Hospital.
