Improved Workmen’s Dwellings, Charter Street, Manchester
The latest addition to the improved workmen’s dwellings of the city is being provided by Mr William J Crossley. The cottages, nearly twenty in number, are in course of building upon a plot of land facing Charter Street, Angel Meadow from which a block of dilapidated and unsanitary property has been cleared away. Red bricks with terra cotta dressings are being used in the building which rises to a height of three storeys in front and two storeys behind. Each cottage is to contain three bedrooms, kitchen and pantry and will be independent of its neighbour, a separate entrance being provided for each one. There is also ample yard space. Messrs Maxwell and Tuke are the architects.
