Grand Clothing Hall, Bridge Street, Warrington
A retail clothing shop belonging to Messrs Hart and Levy of Leicester. The business had been founded in 1859 with several factories in the East Midlands, and by 1895 there was a total of 18 retail outlets trading under the name of “The Grand Clothing Hall”. The only reference to Waddington, Son and Dunkerley being the architects is in an invitation to tender notice in the Manchester Courier in June 1905. A local newspaper of June 1906 carried an advertisement announcing the opening of the store. As Dunkerley had resigned from the partnership the previous January, this may have been the last project in which he was involved. The building is still standing but without the original company signage. [RF]
