In 1916 Henry Willis Rudd purchased Felbridge Place which included, the mansion, park, garden, Hedgecourt Lake and other pieces of land amounting to 218 acres. As recorded in the Final List and sales particulars of 1939, Although Lutyens was generally responsible for work on the estate, Morley Horder was jointly responsible for the residence (known as Felbridge Court in 1939, in 1916.

Sir Edwin Lutyens, P.R.A., and Mr. P. Morley Horder designed Felbridge Court, East Grinstead. The freehold, over two acres, has 465 feet of frontage to the Godstone-East Grinstead Road. The house, built in 1916, is of West Hoathly stone, with a Horsham stone slab roof, and all the rooms are on the ground level. Messrs. Felbridge Court is built of local dressed sandstone under a tiled roof, half-hipped at the northern end and with a cat slide at the southern end. There are three chimneys, the central and southern end being brick while the one at the northern end, more typically Lutyens, in sandstone block. The northern end wall has a double row of horizontal sandstone slabs running across it just above the ground floor windows. The front elevation has diamond leaded lights and stone mullions, and the south end dormer window, set into the cat slide roof, has small rectangular leaded lights.
